What Storage Solution Should I Use

I have been thinking about updating my storage and back up set-up for a while now and wanted to get someone else's opinion. Basically I have a MBP and I want to be able to access an external disk everywhere I go in my house. My first thought was a NAS, but I have heard there are problems getting time machine set up on one. My other idea was to use my current external drive connected to a router with a usb port. Which would be better for my situation? And what hardware would you suggest?

Get yourself an Airport Extreme and run an Airdisk.

Are there any routers that do the same thing and arent so expensive?

It seems that the belkin network usb hub does not support mac. Has that changed at all?
