What t-mobile data plan do you need

I currently am a t-mobile subscriber and I have a sidekick 3.

I am interested in buying an iPhone and unlocking it to use with my t-mobile sim card.

I highly doubt that the sidekick data plan will work for the iPhone so I was wondering if anyone had figured out which data plan you need to use with the iPhone to avoid being charged pay per use on the data.
