In the specs for the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, the video modes for 4k 100fps and 120fps list “fusion” in parentheses without any further explanation. Seems Apple is trying to use this term for just about every new camera feature, but what the actual heck does it mean?

Is this marketing speak because this isn’t really 120fps or something? Or isn’t it just because you can conform the framerate later?

The "Fusion" is just a "new" alternative name of the main camera, besides the telephoto lens and the ultra wide lens.

For example,
4K Dolby Vision video recording at 24 fps, 25 fps, 30 fps, 60 fps, 100 fps (Fusion) or 120 fps (Fusion)
which means that only the main camera can do 100fps and 120 fps.

I read the specs page in another language, and it translates into "120fps is supported on fusion cameras". I think it means only the main camera supports 120fps.
