contact Apple if it doesn't arrive on thursday,

It means something very wrong has happened and they've detected a problem with your order. either you jailbroke your phone, or have a duplicate order or something like that.

Based on personal experience, they definitely don't ship (or prepare) in the order the orders were taken, so when you ordered won't matter in how quickly yours gets out the door.

I wouldn't worry about this, mine and my wife's are both under not yet shipped, if it is like that teusday or wednesday, then maybe worry a litle till then relax.
Please do not worry about it. It will get to you. Last year people on here went nuts traking plane flights and all kinds of junk from as far away as China. Some were going nuts because the night before release a lot of people still had status showing not shipped. They all got their phones though. Apple will be shipping direct from China as well as from multiple storage facilities throughout the US. It will be extremely well coordinated and the phone will be there on the 24th except for a few rare cases were something out of the norm occurs and cant be helped.

I called Apple and they said if it hasn't been prepared for shipment yet it won't be going out until the 2nd of July.
should i be worried? i tried calling but no one answers...
Which part of "delivers on June 24th" don't you understand?
wow guys seriously, relax. If it says delivered by the 24th, than that's what's going to happen. This happens EVERY time.
Plus, it's not the end of the world here. It's just a phone. There's a lot more serious things going on in the world that you should panic about. Like starving children or Africa or the hundreds of other major problems....jeez.
