you should be able to put it into an iPod and boot from the iPod (i think).

apple also have a program whereby you send in your dvd, pay some cash (under $20 i think, not sure) and they will send you new cd's.

You just found out now...

People have been saying for a long time that Tiger would most likely be shipping on DVD. And Apple confirmed it awhile ago.

Apple has a way for you to trade the DVD for a set of CDs, but it will probably be the last time Apple does this -- as DVD takes over as the medium of choice at Apple for content delivery.

You can also install it by using the Firewire target disk mode.

Find yourself a Firewire cable and link your old Mac up to your newer DVD drive equipped Mac. Restart the older Mac, and right after you choose 'Restart' in the Finder hold down the 'T' key on your keyboard. The Mac will then boot up into Firewire target disk mode. Your other Mac can then see the older machine's hard drive as if it were an external Firewire drive. Next, restart the newer Mac into the Tiger Installer and it should allow you to choose the older Mac's hard drive to install Tiger on.

Hope that helps!

Your title could pass for a screaming chihuahua in its death throes. HTH
Which sums up the people who haven't upgraded to DVD capability quite nicely. :D

if your computer can't handle a dvd, it won't handle tiger very well. That's the theory anyway. Besides, you got the Family Pack, right?

How is this thread not in the wasteland?

And by the way, how do I get a DVD into my PMG5? Everyone tells me that there is a place in the front where it goes, but all I see is the cupholder! ;) :D

I reported it awhile ago for "a language edit", probably would have gotten a faster response just cutting and pasting two words. ;)

He omitted the subject, "it." This is common in coloquial English.

For reasons why the expletive you refer to does not deserve censorship, refer to the following actual brief to a court:

You might want to learn how to spell colloquial before you go lecturing an editor on colloquial English.

As far as trying to work around the profanity filter, it is there for a reason, and it is against the rules to attempt to circumvent it. Try reading the FAQ's.

I wonder if the OP bought a family pack license arrangement?

How is this relevant? Our inference that he intends to install Tiger on more than one computer isn't supported by his statement that he can only install on two named computers. Perhaps he wants to install on one specific computer, but now he's forced to install on either the named imac or powerbook.

Not a good theory. ;) My 400 MHz G3/384 MB RAM iMac handles Tiger just fine. In fact, OS X has gotten faster with every release since 10.0 (10.4 is about the same as 10.3, maybe even a little faster.). Fortunately, I had a Firewire cable from an external CD burner, so I was able to perform my first Firewire-target mode OS install.

Its just apple's way of slowly fading out support for older computers. I woun't be surprised if the next version doesn't support G3 computers.

Sorry, I have no sympathy for you!

Sport, try reading his post again, please.

Perhaps if the OP had used the conjunction "or" I wouldn't question whether he had purchased a family pack license. However, he used the conjunction "and" which, to me, announces his intention to install it on anything it can be installed upon. Leading me to my perfectly relevant question.

Since this is a forum, whatever answer I got, I would probably not believe..

Sorry, just got back from celebrating Liverpool's win over Chelski.

The thread is a legitimate one, but there's no room for insults etc. but grapes911 has a very good point, its been covered in other posts.

Thread closed after reviewing the posts grapes911 suggested.
