What Thunderbolt 5 Products Do You See

As we wait to learn whether the M4 Macs will have Thunderbolt 5 (some think not), I thought it'd be interesting to see what's out there. In another thread, I learned OWC has an external SSD that's TB 5: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...envoy-ultra-ssd-with-6000mb-s-speeds.2436116/ on pre-order status (The Verge expects it late October). The price for a 4-terabyte version (around $600) and that very fast data transfer speed looks very appealing.

And The Verge has an article indicating the Kensington SD5000T5 is now available, a Thunderbolt 5 dock.

Even if the M4 Macs lack Thunderbolt 5, if the pricing isn't much higher than TB 3 & 4 products, it might be worth getting TB 5 versions for future-proofing.

Are you guys seeing any other Thunderbolt 5 products available now or on pre-order status with a target date for availability?

not preorder, but there's articles about various ones, if you search on google, i guess the chipsets haven't been sent to Chinese manufacturers as of yet. I'll be sticking to the magor brands, and obvioulsy there's not much point getting one yet. (i also don't plan on upgrading my M1 macbook pro)

$600 For 4-terabytes is on par with what I've seen offered with Thunderbolt 3 external SSDs. As of right now, absent an effective uncharge for Thunderbolt 5, the future-proofing factor (e.g.: benefit if you use it in a few years with a TB 5 capable computer) would be compelling.

A big question is whether as these roll out, TB 3 external SSDs will go on substantial sales. After all, with TB 5 being backward compatible, if sellers don't demand a premium for them, TB 3 external SSDs and TB 4 docks and hubs will face competitive pressure.

Black Friday and Cyber Monday may be quite interesting this year.
 
Took your advice and ran the Google Search.

Sabrent announced a Thunderbolt 5 external SSD drive. Testing a pre-production unit.

Hyper (not familiar with them) announced a Thunderbolt 5 Dock. Price $400, similar to what I've seen upper tier TB 4 docks for. I think J5Create has also indicated one is coming (but a rep. thought it'd be out last March, and this is Sept.). From the PC World article I linked: " Intel has said previously that Thunderbolt 5 will be supported in its 2024 product lineup, but as a discrete chip: That means that laptop OEMs will pay more to add Thunderbolt 5 to their laptops, and, by extension, so will you. It will also likely sap a bit of power from your laptop’s battery."

So, slim pickings so far, but a dock and an external SSD at competitive prices (the Kensington dock is slated for $400) would go a long way, especially if computers roll out with TB 5 shortly.

It's too late for Apple to course correct from whatever they've got planned, but for the M4 Macs to have TB 5 in Oct. would make for some nice buzz.

OWC has a Thunderbolt 5 SSD on pre-order, and Kensington’s SD5000T5 dock is available. Even if M4 Macs don’t support TB5, it might be smart to buy for future-proofing.

Has anyone seen other Thunderbolt 5 products available or on pre-order?
