Just curious as I have never lined up for an iphone (outside of a preorder shipped to store). Thought it'd be an interesting poll to see where and what time you plan to line up.

EDIT: I prob should have used 12:01, 2:01 for the next up category. So as a ground rule: If you, for instance, plan to line up at 6, put yourself in the earlier 4-6 camp. I didnt want a poll with 20+ options but maybe that'd be better...

I am trying to figure out where to go as well...i may check out the line around 630am and go from there. i have about 20 different places i can get one out near me so i have choices but i would like to get it from apple. i am also going to wake up at 3am to check out online ordering and see how long it takes. even if i do wait to see line and order it i know i may loose out getting 1-2 weeks. but maybe 2-3 weeks wouold be nice.
 
Surprised to see such a sway (at least on the limited sample so far) towards apple... they have more stock i'm sure, but the carrier stores are so much more abundant, esp in areas that may not have a nearby apple store...
 
For those of you going to an apple store in a mall... I called my apple store and the mall itself. Apple opens at 8. The mall will be opening 2 hours early as they usually do at 6am. So how do you line up before 6? Even if you line up outside the mall itself, with multiple doors, you could very easily get there well in advance of a lot of people and still end up behind them if they are at a door that gets unlocked sooner?

I am prob thinking too much about this (and I feel a little obsessive - I'm self aware of that lol) but I already sold my iPhone and would like the new one on day one; this flip phone isn't cutting it! I don't mind a line for 3-4 hours, it's all in fun right? But I do not want to go to the trouble if I end up empty handed!

You need to call the mall near you. They all have different policies. Where I live you can't line up at all before 4am or they will ask you to go back to your car. Then at 4 you can line up at the main front door. At 6 they open up that door and let the line in front of it move to the Apple store. But like I said, they all have different policies.

I'll have to call again tomorrow and get a different person. The customer service person didn't seem to know of anything formal.
 
Going at 8am because that's when my Apple Store reservation pick up time is :D

I had to use my passport since I'm not technically a resident (not yet anyways), so hopefully they will accept that as a valid form of ID (the form required my government ID number though).

Lucky us… maybe. I would have gotten in line around 2am if it meant a cheaper phone. Once you see the price, you won't think we're that lucky anymore. The 16GB phone is $800 (the 64GB is $849 in the US).
 
For folks in Ann Arbor, MI, the Briarwood Mall will open its doors between 5 and 6 AM with the Apple Store opening at 8 AM. A genius employee reported that last year people were lining up as early as 4 AM. Currently, the store has no information on 5S anticipated stock levels, but a genius reported that the store will be handing out reservation cards starting at 6 AM.
