they already started.

No they have not. At least in the USA. It can start at 3 AM Eastern time/12:00 AM West Coast sharp or sometime after depending on Apple. It's then is a crap shoot trying to get it going depending on how many are hitting that return button :D

I'm guessing that only folks that would frequent this or any other Apple site will be the ones staying up/getting up to order one in the wee hours of the morning.

I know no one else that is effed up enough to do what I plan on doing, which is getting up at 2:45am and giving it a go. My wife doesn't care, my friends don't care so I'm hoping it's a small number of folks who'll actually be hitting the store at 3. :D

I have done this two years in a row, and the site is always slow as heck (one time it took me 45 minutes and the other time it took me over an hour and a half)... part of it has to do with the carrier check to verify eligibility. This year, I'm ordering the unlocked version, so hopefully that will be quicker, since it won't have to validate with the carrier. I can hope anyway...

I just tried this out of curiosity and it worked, I did the eligibility check on a 5C to get to the screen to change the phone. I'm hoping if I do that around 2:50 and keep my login active, I can hit the refresh when the phones are available and bypass the check.

It's hilarious how folks will find a way to get around the system (if it actually works). LOL
