I don't want to stand in line so I want to order online and am willing to wait a few days for the convenience, but I do want to order the minute it becomes available to do so. So does anyone have any knowledge on what time exactly the online ordering will start? I called my local Apple store and they didin't know.

I have not heard. However, I would think that if 5pm on Friday is the launch in the stores, 5pm would be the time online as well. Maybe a few minutes earlier, but not much I would suspect.
So, I might as well be the one to ask this question, is that 12:01am EST or PST?
That's what I was thinking too and it's too bad it's a Friday because then you have to wait through the whole weekend.
I guess that must be it! And that's why they made it on a Friday late so ppl can just go when they get off work and through the weekend. THAT SUCKS!
