Going to be on holidays in the US around the launch date of the 6. Wondering if anyone knows how early you would have to queue at the vegas store to be in with a chance of getting one. It would add nicely to my holiday :)
cheers

As seen on the news people are already sitting in front of Apple stores around the US.

How long?

Who knows...it can be all over the place.

Here in Nashville, folks were in line way in advance. Others like me walked in that afternoon and got a phone with about 1 minute wait.

Hard to say.

At the one in Town Square people were camping a few days before it came out, might be the same this year. When I went to the Apple Store there were like 100 people in line. I recommend maybe going at night with a friend or something.

Earlier the better. If they don't have pre-orders I'll probably head to the store around 4AM.

:apple:

All depends on pre-order.

If there is one, it won't be AS bad at the stores.

If not, you're gonna have to be EARLY.

Maybe put a thread here https://forums.macrumors.com/forums/131/
about a meetup, and see if anyone from last year can give you an idea. If it's anything like what i've heard, the scalpers get in early. Like earlier than you'd want to the day before for the most part.

Once you've got a meetup thread, you can ask those in line how long the queue is ;)

FWIW, I went to the town square store around midnight the day before release, and I was at about the 50th in line. The store had 6 gold iPhone 5S, and a few silver, but the AT&T (all three capacity models) were gone about 5-10 people in front of me. They said they had enough black ones for everyone but the last few people in line didn't get theirs, but they only waited for like an hour ish.

The malls where the Apple Stores are here didn't even allow people to form lines outside before 4am on launch day due to safety concerns so it all depends on your area.

I was only aware of the line at the 5th Avenue store in NYC ... which always has lines starting 1-2 weeks (or more) ahead of launch.

The vast majority of stores won't get a line starting until the day before.

No answer anyone is going to ive you ensures you a phone.

At the Salem, NH location only the first five folks got phones. The rest could choose a 5C, a Sprint 5S, or go home. I am not exactly sure when they got in line, but it was certainly more than 15 hours since my initial drive by confirmed that there was a line a couple dozen strong.

That's pretty sad.
An Apple store with only 5 iphones in stock on launch day?

The Apple Store here had hundreds of phones available. And still had many available that afternoon for walkins. Yes, they had a line at 5am because some people did not want to wait until afternoon to spend $700.

Why was this a response to me? Mistake?

All I was saying is that the Apple store I went to most definitely did not have hundreds of phones. They had 5. Literally. FIVE. And this is one of the most heavily trafficed Apple stores in the New England area.

Something may have happened to cause this. I really couldn't say. May have been a fluke. Doesn't really change the fact that it happened.

No mistake or anything to take the wrong way.
We're just making conversation and he's stating his past local apple store launch day experience.
Cant we all just get along?:D

I thought we were getting along fine. :)

I am just not sure why he quoted me, that's all...

He quoted me saying "yep"... pardon my confusion lol.
