I always trusted Apple authorized resellers but recently I've researched on local forums where in my country there are cases and reports that there are resellers where their shops look great and grand but they sold resealed and activated iPhone as new, and scammed a number of customers. They used Apple policy to lie on them. I am not very sure what I should do. People on the forum advise going for Apple stores directly for purchases, but because of large discount and gifts I still want to risk buying from a local authorized reseller.
Here my question.
1. Is there anything I can look carefully before unboxing to make sure that it wasn't opened?
2. If I can't totally tell if it's perfectly new or resealed, what can I check after turning ON the phone to ensure that it's a new but not a used or returned iPhone?
3. For any iPhone, once it's activated for the first time, it is true that it cannot be activated again later?
4. Is there any sign with the serial number or IMEI etc that I can check to make sure that it's a new iPhone.
5. How to check for the first activation date?
In short, what can I do and how can I check for to make sure I am the first one to activate the iPhone and no one else used the phone?
