HP w2007 20-inch Widescreen Flat Panel Monitor (currently have MB, need bigger screen), 16GB iPhone (long time Verizon customer, will have to pay additional $175 to terminate that contract), 16GB iPod Touch (had an 8GB and liked it), or Glock 23 (have a sub-compact XD 40 S&W, want to trade for a Glock).

Hmmm.....

either the monitor or the iPod touch, what iPod do you have

I say go for the monitor if you have a good ipod/mp3

I have the old 30GB 5th generation iPod. It is starting to crap out on me I think. It looks like the iPhone is not a logical choice since I am under contract with Verizon until next Fall.

I say go with the thing with which it is hardest to kill people. Get the monitor; you said you need it.

I disagree, he can easily drop the monitor on someones head and off them. ipod touch i think would be the hardest to kill someone with.

You're asking a bunch of geeks about buying guns? :D

Seriously don't buy firearms unless you need it.

If it were me I would save the iPhone upgrade until the fall and grab the monitor now :)

I know, I know. I figured I would get mixed opinions on that part of it. I do in fact need it (self defense), and it is another hobby and something that I enjoy.

It looks like everyone else would lean toward the monitor. I did get a mStand and BT keyboard so the external would be a nice addition.

Any idea when the iPhone will get a makeover?

the only kind of self defence a glock will give you is the kind where you can blow peoples heads off, which can be useful, if you live in mongolia

I really see no point in buying anything but the monitor. It seems it's the only thing you actually need. The rest are just toys.

Come to Atlanta, GA or any major city. I see you are from London. One of my cousins lives there and they have their share of violent crime. My gun is used for protection and it is like a equalizer to some extent.

isn't the glock a gun?

I am a little shocked that there are so many responses. I am also shocked that it hasn't turned into a full blown political debate about the 2nd amendment. Good stuff...

I keep eyeing the monitor every time I walk in Walmart. I will probably just go that route and hold out for the iPhone Nano ;)

If you really want to outdo yourself, splurge on one of those nice 'rifles' or 'shotguns' that Walmart also stocks.
