A friend of mine dropped my name to a professor of his concerning me being able to shoot and cut a video for her. I was told to go ahead and submit a bid to her but I have no clue whatsoever what to charge. I know I will need to rent a camera and some gear so that isn't a big deal and I can call around and get those prices. However, in terms of what I should charge to shoot it and to edit it, I am less than sure. I don't want to charge too much but don't want to completely lowball either as, I have seen, that is the quickest way to get you blacklisted from the local filmmaker's mafia (parusing the local craigslists, you'd think that this was a national epidemic).

Looking online proved to be an effort in futility as none of the places I saw had any of their prices listed and I don't want to call around wasting people's time.

So to the filmmakers around here, what do you usually charge for your work? I would be filming three 20 minute interviews and editing them up. I don't have the equipment to offer custom printed DVDs or anything like that.

Thanks in advance.
