My iPhone 4 is jailbroken and still running 4.2.6 (Verizon) I've been having some issues with it lately, so I'd like to restore and start fresh. In the end, I want it jailbroken again.

1. I want to backup my text messages. I searched and see that iTunes does it when you "backup" and you can also SSH and backup a file. After I re-jailbreak, can I copy the file back to the phone and have the messages be there just like before?

2. Even though I'm jailbroken, can I "backup" in iTunes and use that backup after I do a restore?

3. When I do a restore in iTunes, I know it will download the latest firmware. Should I let it? Is the latest firmware (for Verizon models) jailbroken yet? I think I read it was, but only for Windows. Is that still accurate?

Thank you. I want to cover myself before I make a big mistake and later regret it. :p
