What to do next after downloading customized icons?

Can anyone tell me how to change my icons after i downloaded customizable ones off the web? Or can you point me to the right direction to help me? I have leopard if that changes anything.

I greatly recommend CandyBar, its much easier than the manual process

You can change them individually very easily...

1. Pick the icon you want to change your folder, app or file to.
2. Choose "Get Info" from the File Menu, or click command-I.
3. Click the icon in the upper left of the info window.
4. Choose "Copy" from the Edit menu (or type command-C).
5. Select the folder, app or file on the desktop and "Get Info" for it.
6. Click the icon in the upper left of the info window.
7. Select "Paste" (command-V) from the Edit Menu.

...and that should do the trick.

For across the board icon changes or to alter icons you normally can't (like the Trash, for example) you could maybe look at an app like CandyBar.
