I know there have been similar posts to this, but the last battery update really messed up my battery.

I use my battery every day when I take it to school and only plug it in when it's been drained. I used to do regular battery calibrations but stopped a few months ago.

My Macbook Pro is 12 months old and was at 82% health and initially improved greatly to a 91% after installing the update. The next day when I unplugged it, the battery health dropped to 78%. I thought, 'That sucks, but maybe it's just fluctuating and it'll go back to normal after I drain it and plug it back in.'

It didn't. I continued to drop, to 71%, 68%, and finally after taking it to the Apple store with the genius telling me to do a battery calibration and seeing if it improves (it was at about 4800 mAh), I did a battery calibration last night. When I initially plugged it in this morning, instead of saying 0%, the battery meter said it was already at 40%. WTF?

Now it's 4 hours later and it holds at a 99% charge, with the adaptor light still amber and supposedly still charging. I checked the battery health: 34%, with about 1900 mAh. The Apple genius was telling me 200 cycles with an 80% capacity and ~4000 mAh is normal, so I'm guessing this finally qualifies me for a new battery? Sorry for the novel, but I'm incredibly pissed off. The genius told me they would run a battery test upon a second visit but if it's this obvious, do you think I could forgo this? This laptop is kind of my lifeline.

If you've received a new battery, what exactly happens (at the Apple store, the process, whatever)?

Update: Never mind! I got a new battery right away when I went to the Apple store.
