Besides being the obvious scams like transferring funds etc. If I were to buy something on CL's I would meet up and inspect the item, then what? Should I write up some kind of purchase agreement? Write a check? Cash? Check would probably be better right?

I don't know about the problems that MPB's have so if you guys could give me the lowdown for the "known" problems with it, that would be helpful when I look at the item.

No one will ever accept a check from a stranger, cash is basically all that people will accept. Just make sure that you get their phone number first and make a couple of phone calls before meeting, and only meet in a public place.

That's about all you need to think about beyond throughly checking out the item before buying.

You get three guys, at least one of the with a cement block and a lead pipe, and then ambush the seller when he gets out of his car. Take the MBP and search his car for any Nano you might come across. Then run like the dickens.
