Currently we have an Asus RT-16N router:

I would find that the WiFi would drop a lot ion the basement.

I upgraded to a new Dlink 820L Dualband 802.11Ac router with a Dlink Dap 1520 wifi extender. I am getting great performance from this, but without the extender I was getting similar results from the Asus.

Should I

A) Keep the Asus RT-16N and add high gain antennas router and use the extender in the basement

B) Keep the Dlink 820L with the extender in the basement.

Would I see a gain from the Dlink 820L dualband 802.11AC or would the Asus with the extender work fine?

I cannot flash the ASUS with any open source firmwares as I do not own the router.

Thanks
