Relatives of mine to whom I had bequeathed my macbooks have given them back to me .

Both are coming back with broken screens (no grudge held ;-) ).

What would the best course of actions ?

What do you intend to do with them? Repair and use/give away/sell? Get rid of them?

My indecision was the driver for my inquiry.

Repair might prove too expensive for reason.

Selling/give away/recycling them would raise some security concerns. But that seems to be the course of actions.

Any pointers on ways to securely deactivate them ?

Might end up casting them in resin and keeping them as art.

Remove the hard drive and list them on eBay as "for parts". Get some money for them.

Tear them apart and part them out on eBay. You'll get a few hundred if the motherboards are good and cases in good condition.

If all that isn't worth the hassle. Pull the drives and give the MacBooks to a young cousin, niece, nephew, &c. So they can figure out how to fix them or part them out on eBay.

They get to learn something. Plus possibly earn a kings ransom. As far as a kid concerned.

aye aye, thank you for the advice.

Will part them out and get an arduino starter kit for the nieces birthday with the remainder.

Have a great day !
