Just curious, for those who have replaced their old Apple TV remote, or otherwise just ended up with an unused one, what have you done / are you doing with it? Keep, sell, give, donate, recycle, trash? Apple doesn’t seem to accept it by itself for recycling, which is a shame.

If I only had one going as a spare then I would probably keep in a draw and bring out as a replacement should the need arise.

I still use my two old remotes (the thin aluminum ones) with two newer Apple TV HD's (aka ATV4). But my two old ATV3's just sit in the closet, can't think of a good use for them but not quite ready to throw them away. :)

I kept my retired older model ATV 4K remote as a backup. If I had multiple retired older remotes I would probably get rid of all but one. (I do still have an older ATV 3 and its remote collecting dust somewhere too. I should probably gift that to a friend.) I noticed that the older ATV 4K remotes are still being sold by Apple for around $50 USD, so selling a retired one is certainly an option assuming you could find a buyer. And judging from some of the negative reviews about the new remote, I think you could likely find a buyer. I like the new remote much better, but some don't...

You mean the Siri Remote Gen 1?

I'll take it if you don't want - happy to pay shipping!

I won’t be keeping my old Siri remote as a backup since I hate it and if anything happens to my new Siri remote (gen 2? the new silver one) I can use the remote app or stock TV remote (it is programmed to control the ATV) until I can replace it. And I would be replacing it with a quickness.
