I am planning on upgrading my new iMac from 2gb to 4 gb ram. I will be left with two sticks of useless 1gb DDR3 ram that i can't figure out what to do with. It just seems like a waste to throw it away. Does anyone have any good suggestions on what to do with it? Thanks.

Keep it. If you have to send your iMac back to Apple for repair, put the original RAM back. Apple support can be picky or refuse to repair it if it has 3rd party RAM in it

yes, keep it!

it's not so much that they'll refuse to deal with 3rd party RAM but rather that they can be too quick to blame it as the source of whatever problem you're trying to get fixed....that leads to time wasted demonstrating that the RAM isn't actually the problem before apple will continue to try to resolve your issue
