Just ordered an Apple Watch 7, what should I do with my Apple Watch 3 (stainless steel)? it’s practically worthless from Resale value standpoint and with fast charging, it seems like I can wear the 7 pretty much all the time

Try selling it on Facebook marketplace (Locally….so no shipping). I recently sold my AW6 and AW7 (product Red Both) there and was amazed at the interest. Got top dollar for both. I’ve got an old AW2 (Space Black SS) that’s in perfect condition. I’m gonna try and sell it there too for $100…and see what happens. Worth a try!

Leave it in your drawer for when you inevitably smash the new one.

- Series 3 wearer with a broken Series 5 in the drawer :D

My AW5 is a bit newer, but since the battery is low and it has some face scratches and nicks it doesn't have any resale value and I don't even want to give it to a family member. I'll just keep it as a backup and/or sleeping watch. I never used the sleep functions much before since I never could get into the charging routine of having to charge it twice a day. I still have a Series 1 (swollen battery) and a Series 4 (badly shattered screen) that I wasn't sell/give away either.

‘I always give mine to some well deserving person. Last year, with the permission of the parents, I gave mine to a 16 year old kid that lives down the street to me. He saw me struggling to get a large tree limb to the street and ran over to help! He was raised right and called me Sir multiple times and I noticed he had an iPhone. I see this young man many times in the neighborhood and he is wearing that black DLC Ti watch everyday. His mom told me that he loved it and they even added a cellar plan to cover it.

Don’t just toss it in a drawer, spread the technology!

You can use it as a sleeping watch while the other one is charging. Limited value without all the new sensors, but it can snooze your alarm remotely.

I always sell mine. I have the 7 but I don’t see any point of upgrading unless I go Ultra and not sure I need that

I’m in a similar position. If your battery health shows below 80%, you can get a battery replacement directly from Apple for $79 (in the US). When you do this, they give you a “new” refurbished watch. It’s basically as good as new.

It would then either have more resale value (nothing earth-shattering, the going rate for a mint condition AW5 45mm is ~$165 on Swappa), or in my opinion, just make for a really nice gift for someone who doesn’t need the latest/greatest.

I am likely going to do that, and get either a SS S8 or a refurb/used SS S7.

Since my watch has a deep scratch and a nick in the corner they said that would be considered “damaged” and wanted $299 for the replacement. Of course not worth it.

Apple products, no matter how old, are worth something to someone.

I've never even been able to throw away any of the box/packing material. someone always grabs that before the trash people can get to it.

Even damaged Apple products can serve as a source of spare parts to help another (similar product) live further into the future.
