Hey guys!
So I currently use a iMac mid 2017 for college/home business. I love it and I love apple.

Now, after losing my main job, I’m trying to consolidate and make things last, so I recently cancelled my phone contract to buy iPhone 12 outright, this has save me £960 over the 2 years.

Now what I’ve realised is my iMac is stuttering a wee bit/going slow, and I can trade this in at apple for £300, and have some money left that I had saved. As I’m a student, I can get the MacBook Air for £898,so I’d only have to pay £598 for MacBook Air, is it worth it?
My other option was just buying the iPad Air 2020 for lighter work, but im
Unsure if I’d rather have the new 2020 laptop so I know it would last a few years more!

Any help
Appreciated. I won’t be doing any heavy work like editing, mainly wor:/excel files for college, browsing the web!

thanks again!

I was forced to do clean install, my Mac hadn’t had one and was in dire need after Catalina. Try that, backup TM and bootable clone. Also wait for Big Sur to be out and pre-installed too, if possible.

id skip on the Air though for portable use it would but after you have one solid reliable Mac.

If you absolutely must replace your iMac then go for the MBA. It is all you will need. iPad isn't mature enough to replace a laptop no matter all the hype. You might be able to get more money for your iMac if you sell it as opposed to trade it in.

Just an FYI, I sold my mid-2017 4K iMac for £900 on eBay just a few weeks ago. Definitely don’t just trade it in to Apple. You can get at least double what they’re offering.
