A few months ago, Apple shared a short teaser video in which it revealed that it will be releasing new Powerbeats Pro 2 next year. The video showed MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani wearing the upcoming version of the earbuds, which appear to have some slight design changes compared to the original Powerbeats Pro from 2019.

As a refresher, Powerbeats Pro are a sportier, fitness-focused alternative to AirPods Pro with built-in, adjustable ear hooks for a secure fit.

Below, we recap what to expect from the Powerbeats Pro 2 based on known info and leaks:

  • A more vertical, slimmer design compared to the original Powerbeats Pro
  • Heart rate monitoring during workouts
  • Active Noise Cancellation for the first time
  • Spatial Audio and Adaptive Audio support
  • Orange, purple, black, and beige color options
Based on iOS 18 code findings, we previously reported that you will be able to connect the Powerbeats Pro 2 to gym equipment like a treadmill to measure heart rate, and the data would be visible in the Health app on the iPhone. This capability might be limited to workouts. Heart rate monitoring has also been rumored for the AirPods Pro in the past, so perhaps the feature will extend to the AirPods Pro 3 rumored to launch next year.

Based on other recent Beats headphones, other potential upgrades for the Powerbeats Pro 2 include improved sound quality, longer battery life, and improved cross-platform compatibility with Android features like Find My Device. Plus, the Powerbeats Pro 2 charging case will almost certainly have a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port.

Apple did not reveal a specific release date in 2025 for the Powerbeats Pro 2. It discontinued the original Powerbeats Pro last month.

The main features I’m hoping for are:
  1. Ability to charge by just placing the headphones in the case and closing it, not having to adjust one every time and then reopen the case as it touched the hook, causing the bud to move off the charging contacts.
  2. Ability to take both buds out of the case and have them connect to the same device more often than having one bud connect.
  3. Hearing aid mode like the AirPods Pro would be neat!

It would be on my list of must-haves if it can have a case where I can change to foam tips, it still charges (every time), and I don't lose any functionality of the current APP. APP are still terribly uncomfortable for me. I can't have the plastic for more than 30 minutes before I get pain, and I never get a good seal.

Can we get a Dodgers blue version? Thanks, Apple.

Using another celebrity sports figure to show-off a product always sucks. Getting paid millions more to use their celebrity status in advertising is the opposite of creative or innovative.

A replaceable charging case would be nice but is not expected, and a case that doesn't actively stop the headphones from charging would be nice as well. The only reason I need new headphones is because my current ones consistently don't charge because of the core design choices made by Mr. Dre.

I really hope the charging case is improved, because the case on the Powerbeats Pro is absolutely crap. So many times I have had one ear bud not charge because it wasn't placed quite right or dislodged ever so slightly from the contacts when the case was closed, terrible charging design.

Battery life and sound quality I've always been happy with, so active noise cancellation, more reliable charging and USB-C is all I really want.

I thought I was just unlucky with finicky case charging. One of my PowerBeats has a battery with about 20% capacity due to that cursed case.

As long as they charge better than AirPods Pro where the left earbud would sometimes be at 5% and the right one at 90%.

I’ve cleaned the charging case and made sure the connectors are not compromised. Who knows.

What was the point of this post? As far as I can tell, there’s no new information being reported here.

In any case, I can’t wait for the Powerbeats Pro 2 to be released.
There is clearly some extra information in this post. </sarcasm>

See.. Massive update on the previous post. Perhaps they may have other features... I can't wait either.

edit: Just re-read it. The extra information was for AirPods Pro 3. Not the Powerbeats Pro 2 🤦‍♂️

it’s funny I went from not caring about these at all (I have the first pair that I gave to my partner) to REALLY wanting them lol because I realized they’re exactly what I need for working out

AirPods Pro will be for commuting on a train or walking around

and AirPods Max for when I’m just sitting at home or on a plane

I loved my Powerbeats Pros for running and working out but charging them was a pain as one would consistently get dislodged when the case closed and not actually charge. My wish list for Powerbeats Pro 2s is simple (and in order of priority):
1. Reliable and consistent no fuss charging
2. ANC
3. A more compact case

Don’t really care about heart rate monitoring and would rather it didn’t have it as I’m sure that it would drive up the price.

I've had Powerbeats Pros since June 2019. My comments on the originals:

  • Frequently have a single piece fail to charge in the case due to the poor contacts/case design.
  • Frequently have only one connect - need to place back in charge case to reset as a fix.
  • Frequently have one drop connection - need to place back in charge case to reset as a fix.
  • Constantly - more often than not in fact - connecting to the wrong device. I literally never want to use them with the iphone yet it seems to be the default.
  • Poor isolation (for my ears anyway).
