Hi, I want to get into app development, I don't own a mac at the moment so this will be my first one, I was wondering what would be best & what kind of spec do I need? My budget is about £1500 max. I was thinking about a 13 inch 2.8Ghz MBP, but would a 13 inch air do as a good job? Anyone had a Experiance programming on a variety of machines, what would you recommend?

Thanks.

The 13" MBA has one real advantage over the current 13" MBP. It comes with a higher resolution screen. Same as the base resolution as the base 15" MBP. (I have 4 Macs I use regularly, my 2008 13" MBP, 2009 15" MBP, 2010 15" MBP w/Hi-Res and 2011 MBA).

More screen real estate can be a big plus when doing development.

Of course you can offset this by using an external display during extended fixed location coding sessions, but a higher resolution internal display is handy.
