I'm kind of confused which MacBook or MacBook Pro has which version "butterfly" keyboard.

Oh really? You seem to know more than everyone else so tell me: which one of the hitherto unannounced and unreleased ultra-low power 3.5-5W TDP Intel CPUs is Apple going to put into this infamous new MacBook that is going to be released within a month or two?

Wow, I've completely missed those  Thanks! Serves me right for spending all day in an airplane...

Since they've only been introduced three days ago are they actually already available? Or is it another one of Intel's infamous paper launches?

Serves you right for being snarky

Window laptops/2-1 from various manufacturers already due to come out beginning of October (See IFA event for info) if not earlier with Whiskey/Amber Lake, so I’d say they are available for Apple if they wish to use them.

Don't expect Macbooks on them earlier than middle of October I'd say.
But Apple being Apple could wait as long as they want e. g. until WWDC 2019 in June so be cautious.

The chips for the Revision A Macbooks also came out in fall, yet the machines wasn't released and announced until spring. And since the last revisions were also announced in the spring, I think it is safe to say that the next model, despite chips being available, will come in spring. This would also make sure they don't take focus off from the iOS march the next couple of months.

I wonder if the plastic covering that they added inside really fixed the issues.

I had to exchange the newest MBP (July 2018) due to the key sticking issue. Hope it’s an isolated incident, we’ll see.

What?!

The old, sculpted, PowerBook keyboard was the pinnacle design.

Ok, so to summarize: If I order a 12-inch MacBook today, I’m getting the second generation keyboard that might still be subject to the familiar dust-sticky issue. But if I wait, I’m likely to get the third-gen that now comes on the MacBook Pro? Is that right? And the best guess as to when that might be - maybe next month?

Yes.
