What video type to fit AVCHD AIC 1440x1080i50 in Final Cut Express?

Working on Final Cut Express...

So basically I have a project already set up with clips from my canon hg10 but a friend has recorded the same event and I would like to use some of their clips for multiple angles on the film.

The project is setup as in the title.

I have the clips in MPEG-2 and they will not import directly into FCE so I have visual hub standing by with 114 clips to convert.

What type of file should I convert them to to work with the project?

make them AIC 1440x1080i50 to match your current settings

well I cant see how to do this from Visual Hub. Any other conversion software where I can queue the films so I can convert it overnight?
