I dont remember what i paid for my:
'09 iMac 24"
Core 2 Duo 2.93 GHz
4 GB ram
640 GB HDD
NVIDIA GeForce GT 120 256 MB
...Does anyone know what were they sold at apple stores in US new?

Now it has upgraded ram to 8 GB and i am interested in selling it soon and was curious how much it has depreciated over the years based on some minimal research it could be worth 700-900 USD all i know is i wouldn't pay that much for one now lol

$ 1.799 - so you "lost" $ 1.000 or around $ 20 per month. Not bad.

Find it here: http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/imac/specs/imac-core-2-duo-2.93-24-inch-aluminum-early-2009-specs.html

The basic "lesson to learn"...you shouldn't buy (i.e.) the highest end 2012 27'' iMac BTO model, unless you really need it (mostly business usage). A top model computer is not an investment for home users! It's just a fun/hobby...

Otherwise, you will "cry" for your huge amount of money you spent when you decide to sell it (almost unused) after a couple of years...(because price will be less than the half...).

Of course, if you are rich and you don't care about cost and money, you can make APPLE feel happier for your "wonderful" decision....:cool:

Exactly what I was looking for! Thank You!

I never looked at computer as investment or something that will retain value ..I am surprised to see how much my 09 iMac is worth I expected much less

I agree that computers are hobby but it is nice if in the end the hobby maintains its value a bit.

I do not agree that the highest BTO is a bad investment. It is the higher models (i7 instead of i5, 16 GB ram instead of 8 GB ram, 680 MX instead of 675 MX that keep their value. This is not my opinion but a fact I learned when I traded my iMac 2009 for the new 2012...

Thanks. I will keep it in my mind.

In my opinion, you can buy a good 23-27'' IPS monitor with a high end (i7 Haswell+IRIS PRO graphics) Mac mini and gain max. perfomance with a lower total cost. Do you agree? ;)
