I've seen different models tossed around on history sites - Mac Plus, Mac II, various flavors of Power Macs... so let's get some input from the community at large. What was the best-selling Mac during the 68xxx and PowerPC years?

For PowerPC systems, I would say the atrocious but cheap 52xx / 53xx all in ones have a good chance of being the most popular, possibly hundreds of thousands of them went to schools across the world.

It would be interesting to know exactly which model of Macintosh was the best selling.

i would venture to guess the mac plus would be on the top of that list somewhere considering its long production run

It maybe the Mac Classic due to its lower cost...

Neither of these would be during the PowerPC era.

But the computer market got a lot bigger from 1984 to 1994, and Apple's marketshare was around 10% for the whole period. (source)

The Plus was in production far longer than any other model -- five years IIRC. Don't know if that translates to best-selling however.

I was a reseller in those years and I'd cast a vote for the LC. Sold a crapload of them,
