Wow I am in the dog house big time. When we purchased our new iMac I brought in our photos which was in Picasso on the PC to iPhoto. They were in folders based around events so I transferred the files via a USB external drive and all went well. I should add that to do this I simply dragged the folder's one at a time from the USB drive into iPhoto. Each time I did it imported the files and the iPhoto album has been happy every since.

Now the problem, my wife returned from visiting our daughter and grandson of course with precious pictures. I removed the SD disk from the camera and plugged it in my iMac. I made a folder on the desktop called Wife visits bla bla bla and copied the pictures into that folder and then drug this into iPhoto and deleted this temp desktop folder. Over the next two days we even edited and viewed pictures in iPhoto, they were there and now they are gone.

Okay I am new to macs but now it gets weird. They are not in my daily Time Machine backups either. How can this be? There is only one user for our login. In hindsight I am thinking that I should have used the file - import to iPhoto option instead of dragging a folder in. I did it this way because I wanted a 5 day trip to be in one folder not 5.

I did several of the rebuilds from the iPhoto start options as well as downloading iPhoto Library manager and running it's rebuilt and creating a new library to no avail.
