I use custom sync to move images, movies, music, etc. to my Apple TV.

I have selected some music, movies, and photos my family enjoys to be synced. I did not pick the other 75% of my library.

I currently have not selected the option "Show only the synced items on my Apple TV", so that means I can stream the other 75% of my library.

It works like a charm and I have no problems.

My question is, what if I take my MBP on a business trip? Will the Apple TV only show the synced/downloaded information stored on it? Or will it show the entire library of content, even if it's not available?

If it is the latter, if my family attempts to listen to music that isn't locally stored on the Apple TV, will they soon be prompted with "it's not here" messages? This would be very frustrating for my family, as 75% of their choices wouldn't be available, and they wouldn't know it until they clicked on the item...and then they'd be very, very frustrated when it didn't play and there was no indication it was not available.

Thanks!
