Apple store advice to try and sort my Xʀ WiFi issues is to restore the phone as new...

What will I lose doing this? Photos are in iCloud, contacts and notes too, what about messages? I have messages in the cloud turned on...

What about WhatsApp?

Thanks, it’s scary deleting everything!

They guy said if I restored from any kind of backup that it could bring back whatever software glitch is causing my slow WiFi

If you restore and set up as new you’ll lose all settings, email accounts, location settings, etc. but, as soon as you sign into iCloud again you’ll get all your notes, contacts, messages and photos back. That is only if you have all of those saved on he cloud...

Agreed. If you have a backup it saves all of your data. Reset your phone as new and see if that fixes the WiFi. If it does then you know it was your data that was causing a problem. If you still have slow WiFi when set up as new, you know it was not your data and can restore it if you wish.

This should be your first step to see if it is hardware or software that is causing your problems.

For slow wifi... try "Reset Network Settings" first. It'll clear out your wifi passwords though.

I setup as new every time. Photos and data backed up to iCloud. Double backup of photos with Google Photos. Text, etc saved to iCloud.

Installing apps is only headache. I love fresh installs.

You can restore app data without restoring a backup with iMazing, so good idea to make an encrypted iMazing backup first (and iTunes just in case).

This won't restore data that is saved in keychain (usually banking apps and password managers), but should work for WhatsApp and most other apps. And you can do it with free version so basically you won't loose anything.

So what happen to the data of those apps? You can recover it after logging into iCloud?
