We have probably the most stable OS available is Apple going to run out of ideas on how to improve it? The only thing I can think of is making folder views "Sticky".

I just don't see how one can keep improving on something that really has very little wrong with it. Of course you can change the look and feel, but that is superficial.

Forget 10.7, I seriously wonder what OS 11 will be like. New architecture? Will it still use UNIX? Something entirely different?

i dont think it is that incredibly stable and they certainly can make improvements. I have been having a lot of forced shutdowns lately even though i run Cocktail regularly as well as a virus program.

Windows 7 versus 10.6 Stability

Yeah, I use both and Win 7 is certainly much more stable than my 10.6 installs. Yes, I have had 3 MacBooks to look after in recent times, all with 10.6 that I did fresh installs of. All 3 machines have proven to be less stable than Windows 7, which I have installed and maintained on about 20 PCs.

I am almost totally Mac nowadays, but crashing Safari and poor SMB performance (30000+ posts/complaints in one Apple thread about this IIRC) are things I don't really enjoy.

If you didn't drink so many cocktails, you wouldn't be under the mistaken impression that you have a virus!

didnt say i had a virus, just that i attempt to be diligent and by the way Cocktail came free in a package and for the record i probably do drink to many cocktails, but not till its after 5 (somewhere):p

If Larry Ellison had a say, the cat series would likely end up as

"Terriyaki Leopard" or "Honey Glazed Leopard"

good point and if Grey Powell had a say it would probably be "Toasted Leopard" or "Smashed Cat" :D

I have been wondering when and what 10.7 will bring us as well. I am hoping for a marble interface but thats the least important piece. I really want them to finally end the kernel panics that have plagued leopard and snow leopard, and get back to the stability of tiger... Im guessing they might try to make 10.7 integrate with some sort of cloud based computing design (totally different from what we are used to now... more apple style) once their server farm is finished...

but as apple has said before, they rewrote everything with SL and that is the foundation they will build future versions of OSX onto so I dont expect too drastic of a change.

My biggest fear is that they might have been pulling so many developers to work on iPhone OS that they are not really focusing on OSX lately...
