Xcom runs fine on the iPad, so I wouldn't say it's intrinsically expensive, computationally or graphically. Isometric view games tend to be less demanding, because they only render a very finite area. You don't have people looking at distant horizons or anything. I don't have a MBA to test it on, but I'd hunt down comments on it and be hopeful.
