What would be a good replacement?
I was thinking maybe MacBook Air. Thinking 16GB RAM would be better than 8GB.

I have the same computer w/500G HD I am thinking MBA with 16G and 512. But I a going to wait to see if they do come out with a 14" MBP, if so, I will go that route. I don't think the 13" MBP is with the $400 over the MBA comparably spec'ed...but a 14" would be.

I also want to upgrade my 2014 13" (2.6 i5-16-512 ssubx). I think it depends on your usage. What do you use your macbook pro for?

I am a software developer, so for me, I am looking at 16" or to-be-refreshed-13" with 32gb or more ram.

Also I should note that 2014 13" is a very silent machine with a never stopping fan curve (1300rpm idle). Fans start to ramp up very late even if multiple XCode instances are running simultaneously. As far as I know MBA does not have metal plate between heatsink and fan. If you are sensitive to noise, you should also consider this.

Question while we are on the subject. I have 177G free of my HD, should I say with a 512 hard drive or just bute the bullet and get the 1TB? Side note, not sure why I have 58G of mail.

"to-be-refreshed-13" with 32gb or more ram."

You mean there's a new 13'' coming out with 32gb of ram? What would be the cost of that?

Do you mean that newer MBP will have fan noise?

They have changed keyboard in 16" and MBA but not in 13". I guess a refresh will come to 13" too.

Dont know about MBP fan noise, but I have seen some reviews that MBA fan is not silent. I may be wrong.
