What would be the best way to backup/restore Cydia apps and all settings with it?

Pkgbackup works perfectly, and is the only usable app for this purpose (forget aptbackup, appbackup, or any of the other POS’s out there). However, I don’t believe you get your settings back. Pkgbackup only allows you to reinstall all the apps without having to go through and find each one and install it again.

and you guys are paying 5$ to use pkgbackup? Seems steep

you really think $5 is steep? maybe in comparison to free apps but its obviously a tiny amount of money for a product. in any case this + sborganizer can save a lot of time if you ever have to restore. for your statement to make sense you would have to be on food stamps and welfare at the least.

So does pkgbacuk also save individual settings? For instance, would I have to go through BiteSMS and change everything all over again after restoring?

I am willing to spend way more than 5 bucks rather than spending hours reinstallation and frustration.

I will buy and use pkgbackup. Thank you guys!

For $10? no thanks. I'm sick of paying money for Cydia tweaks and the developer quitting after a couple updates. I still can't get Safaridownloader+ dev to fix my issue.

I understand your position. However, PKGBackup has been around for a few years and is updated regularly. It has gotten me out a few jams.

For my last few jailbreaks I've:
  1. Restored iOS via iTunes.
  2. Jailbroken
  3. Restored from backup via iTunes.
Of course, I have to reinstall all of my tweaks but my settings for those tweaks have also been restored...I don't have to go through each one at all.

As a bonus on the 8.4 jailbreak my added repos also reappeared after my restore. I don't know if that's because of the recent changes to Cydia or if it was because I didn't run Cydia until after I restored from backup.

This is how I did my 2 - 5s, ipad 3 and 6plus, and all went great doing it exactly the way you posted. And same with the sources already installed, that was a great addition.

I do this too. A good way to find the tweak that might be causing some issues prior to the update.

Ok, I tried to follow steps above but doing 3./restoring device after has been jailbroken it removes entire jailbreak?
maybe after 2. do backup and then do restore ?

Well, yes, you have to make a backup before step one.

The confusion with "Restore" being used in two different ways is understandable. "Restore Backup..." doesn't erase the iPhone...it just restores settings and apps from the backup.

I did make backup while on 7.1.1 and I think that's my problem? These instructions are for people who are on 8.4 already?
