I just ordered a rMBP, and i plan to use Boot Camp for windows gaming. I want to give the windows partition as much space as possible for game installs, but keep the OSX partition roomy (i went with the 256GB SSD).

i ordered this thing via kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1342319572/the-nifty-minidrive
It's an adapter for a microSD card that lets it sit flush with the MBP's SD card slot. I'm not affiliated with them in any way.

So, the plan is to buy a 64GB MicroSD card slot and use it as an always-connected external drive that could be shared between the two partitions. I don't keep music or personal photos stored on the laptop - iTunes Match should be fine.

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas about how to best execute this - what files to keep on the drive, etc.

My best idea now is to have OSX sync my Google Drive (about 6GB) docs to the SD card (mostly office documents, so they don't need a lot of read/writes) and for any temporary storage. the two partitions would be left for the OSes and apps, hopefully no data.

Since both OSX and Windows can read/write to the SD card, it would be a nice middle ground.
