I found a site that has some historical benchmarks and the Nvidia GT650m is faster than my desktop ATi HD 5850 which is good at least for me. The GT650M gets over 80fps in Starcraft 2 where the HD5858 gets 60fps. Not too shabby :)

Passmark is not an especially accurate benchmark for performance (it rates the 6770m above the 650m LOL). The 650m stock is comparable to a GTS 450, though when overclocked it can best even a stock ATI desktop 6770.

The desktop equivalent is the faster 640GT (DDR5 memory): http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gt-640-oem/specifications

If I am not mistaken, 8800GT scores around 5000-7000 in 3DMark Vantage. The rMBP scores 10500

That would be very accurate seeing as how the clock speeds are within 5% of each other, they have the same 128 bit bus and the same amount of CUDA cores.

To put it into perspective that would be about 25-30% of the performance of a GTX680 which is about 180% as powerful as a HD5870. So A 650M is about half a desktop HD5870.

he didnt say stupid... i dont agree with calling you a troll, but you did state something as fact without links

as far as I've read, and it looks like, are not in ANY way stating facts. It is stating what I think it seems like. If I am incorrect I am more than happy to concede that fact. I was simply responding the OP. For some reason on this forum if you don't present everything you say with charts and figures and sources you are called a troll or just dumb for having contributed anything.

I am perfectly fine with someone telling me I am incorrect...but a level of tact is required in any human to human interaction, no matter how informal or anonymous it may seem.

its the internet. also, others have put links. Dont take it so personal

Good job! You should always tell a grown up if someone does anything!

well this thread is prob going to get locked. You seem to be dealing with other issues obviously.

anyway back on topic, ive been playing CIV V, L4D2 and duke nukem ( damn you summer steam sales) all at max settings and pretty good frame rate. so i would just suggest to look up the games you will be playing and seeing if someone has put up stats playing on a rmbp. I looked at my games on youtube to see if someone tested them out first

Does anyone know if the scores take into account the extra pixels that the MBPR has? I'd imagine that even if the 650 is about the same as a similar card, the extra pixels would slow it down until it's close to the 8800 like gentlefury suggested.

No, do take it personally, don't spout off about something if you are just wishful thinking. BACK IT UP WITH FACT!

That would be very disappointing if that were true.

I'd say its slightly better than this but it cannot match my GTX 570 HD card, BF 3 runs much better on my PC than on the MBPr that I had up till last week.

Is this thread intended for the 650m in the Retina MBP or the normal MBP?

Reason being theres a huge difference in speeds between the two. The one in the rMBP being as good, if not better than a 660m. According to the OC thread, its possible to overclock it to 580m levels due to the awesome cooling system in the rMBP as well, although I've yet to try it.

Um, tact is not required in any human interaction. You can be as rude as you want to be, there is no law that says I cannot speak the way I want to. Now physical violence is a different story.

no rule....its just called courtesy and respect...which most people on this forum seem to lack.

You can be as rude as ya want to. Just don't try doing it to my face.
