anybody who has read my other posts knows how well I love my G5. The G5 is my very first mac ever and has been an absolute joy to use. Such a joy in fact, that it has led me to consider the possibility that a "less than new" mbp/pb might in fact be the smart purchase.
So, having said that, I would like to pose this to the forum. What do you think would be the best purchase, in terms of overall performance versus price, in a used, "less than new" mbp/pb?

The only other option would be to go for the new 13" macbook pro, with the 2.5 ghz core 2 duo processor. At 1499.00$ that would be pushing it pretty hard.

Thank you everyone for your opinions.
Anthony.

A used MBP would be fine provided that it's in good condition and still under warranty. I wouldn't buy anything older than an October '08 unibody model though. Models previous to that are susceptible to video card failures at a well-above-normal rate, and I don't see any use in buying the MBP's from 2006 since they're getting quite old.

My local Best Buy has an open box 15.4 4 gb RAM 250hd for $1529, that is probably what I would look at getting if I had the need right now.

depending on the processor, that may not be very good at all.

the refurb store has last gen MBP for $1299.
