iPod what would you call the new iPod nano?

I am one of those people just cringing at the idea of this new iPod nano design that's been floating around lately. But whether you love it or hate it, it's certainly different enough to require a new name, if only a nickname.

The pictures we have seen of it are clearly photoshopped, but the rumours of the square form factor have remained fairly solid, and Apple has now asked the source of this rumour to take down the images, which usually indicates that there is at least *some* Apple IP in play.

If this thread is posted right, there should be a poll attached as to what names might be most suitable for this uh ... product. If you don't like any of them, suggest your own in the comments.

Since this particular brand of forum software has some serious usability issues when posting polls, I will also put the suggestions in the body just in case.

Oh well the poll part screwed up as usual. Not so funny I guess, sorry. :(

I hope those pictures aren't the real thing, but if they are, then I guess I'll have to reserve final judgment until I can actually see one in person, hold it, etc. First impression though is, well, you've captured some of the sentiments above... :eek: ;) :cool:

I'm not totally sold though that the form is totally terrible. If something similar does come out, I'm sure it will look fine, if only because of the Reality Distortion Field.

As long as there is an iPhone - communications iPod on the way, I wouldn't have a real problem with a video iPod "Nano". One way or another, something good will come of this, should the form indicated be somewhat correct.

I've seen the photos and it looks pretty bad. However, I wouldn't put anything into Apple requesting that the photos be taken down. After all, how do we really know that Apple made a request. For all we know, the website put the images up for a little while, then took them down and claimed that Apple made them.

It's the old double reverse pychology mind game trick. ;)

Now, who's to say that the nano won't get a widescreen display. You could easily retain the current dimensions and add a widescreen. Just move the scroll wheel closer to the bottom, then put a widescreen on it's side. When you watch a movie, you hold the nano sideways. When you use it for music, hold it longways.

I seriously hope that's not what the new design would be. At least they don't have brown as one of their color choices.
 
squarepod. That way, instead of having iPod "sock" like the others, it can instead have a sponge pant.

Or squarepod spongepants, for those who need it spelt out.
