Hello 😊

I've been running a scan with Norton on my Mac for quite some time. So far it has found the items as shown in the screenshot:-

Have any readers ever scanned their own Mac with Norton?
If so, did the scan find ANY security risks?

Most people I know don't use any anti-virus software on their Apple computers, so don't run such scans.
Is there a general consensus here to simply leave malware protection to Apple?

Thanks for your thoughts.

be careful with these programs, they are a cash cow for non-intelegent computer users.

while in the year Mojave I scanned my MacBook Air 2010 the found several "things"
now take into consideration that the OS was a patch, (aka todays OCLP) a great one,
since my MBA stopped support at high Sierra,
seems to me they found patched items that were not native OSX.
I tried to delete them on this FREE major software,
until then they wanted $$$$$ to do so as the software did not remove the files.

meanwhile the same FREE program wanted to delete less files on the Mac mini-2012, Mojave.
what this software wanted to do was delete important files that took up space
just because...... for no safety reason, like "hey look what we found, pay us, sucka!"
I deleted that program and lived happily ever after.

this programs will find mundane files and deem them dangerous to keep the cash flowing.
I would recommend using 'first aid" but I forgot if that still is an option in the latest OS.

When I first had a mac I tried Norton it was crap, so many false positives, and hard to get rid of, I tried McAfee because I had a free version, even their support couldn’t get it to run on my Mac. Since then, like most mac users, I don’t use any antivirus programs. The only similar type program I use is the free version of Malwarebytes. FYI I am running an M4 Mac Mini.

After considering what MBAir2010 and you have said I decided to remove the trial version of Norton which I was using.

Here's a screenshot to confirm the action taken:-
