It think the asking price is pretty high. What would you offer?

As a starting point, you can check Mac2Sell, eBay (including completed sales), and Amazon for prices of similar models, to get an idea of what a reasonable price may be.

Don't check just once source, but get an average from all sites for a more accurate idea. Some sites may be higher/lower than is realistic. Then adjust the price to account for condition, configuration, remaining AppleCare coverage (if any), etc. If the model is recent enough, you can also check the Apple refurbished store to see what similar models are selling for.

Well mac2sell is giving me $1670 but you can't select the year of release. eBay is giving me prices generally between $800-$1000 for the same speced MBA. That seems much more realistic. I was only able to get $700 for my 2011 15" MBP with 8gb ram and 500gb ssd and hi-res anti glare display.

Well since it was a 2011 15" you got out pretty lucky those are known to have problems which decrease there resale value and makes them almost impossible to sell

But for you air i would price it at $850-$900 but could go in the possible $1000s if you set it as an auction on ebay
