Every year I upgrade my iPhone through the Apple Upgrade Program, but when it comes to the watch, I cant justify $700+ annually as I always buy the Stainless Steel variants. I had the original Apple Watch, then the Series 2, and for the last few years the Series 4 (Bought it when it launched).

My dilemma comes to should I get the Series 7 whenever Apple does release it, or wait till the Series 8, since most likely that is when we will see at least more features/sensors added. I cant buy the 7 and then in less than a year (Since the 7 is delayed till fall) buy the Series 8.

For those who made the jump from previous gens, is it worth the jump to the 7, or wait till the 8?

Im in the same boat. I really wanted to upgrade my series 4 but Feel the series 7 just isn't the true series 7 upgrade apple planned all along. Theres some weirdness behind it and I feel that come next year the Apple Watch will truly change direction in terms of its design and function, and the then 1 year old series 7 will be left behind.

I don't know - may still get one, my Series 4 is pretty long in the tooth now..

Yeah my Series 4 battery life has vastly dwindled over the last year, and since I am lacking the AOD that the Series 5 and up have, That is a nice feature. I just am not sure if Apple will add a enhanced design this year just to change it again next year. Im so torn.

I too have a S4 SS and kept it lovingly since release.
However, I will be upgrading to a S7 SS As it will have:-
Slightly larger screen
AOD
Blood Oxygen Monitor
Compass

Apart from the larger screen on the S7, the remaining three were on the S6….. I just couldn’t go from an S4 to S6. At least an S4 to S7 sounds better lol.

I’m in a similar boat. I always buy SS and I’m currently on a S4 watch. I’d planned to pick up a new SS S7, but after the release and no major redesign came, I decided to go in a different direction.

I’m going to pick up an aluminum S7 and wait to see what the S8 brings. Hopefully the S8 brings the flat sided redesign and I’ll pick one of those up. If not, then I gambled and played myself, but I’ll still be picking up a SS S8.

I went from a S4 to S6 and the AOD was a big upgrade for me. But,, if you have not already upgraded from a S4 to a S6 by now I'd hang on for a year or wait and see if the S6 prices drop. I just don't think the S7 is enough of an upgrade over the S6 to be anymore tempting than a S6.

Hopefully the S7 is a filler until there is a major change for the S8.

The annual upgrade is the reason I have only bought the aluminum versions. I have had a 1, 2, 3 LTE, 5 and now the 6 LTE. I can justify the annual upgrade cost and just get Applecare+.

*** I meant the annual upgrade that Apple cycle from Apple. ***

For me it would be going from the Series 4 to a Series 7

They dont offer a annual upgrade program for the watches.
