Well, I'm getting a mac during the back to school program, and I was wondering, besides music on the go, what would I use my touch for that I couldn't use my laptop for?

1) When you need to check something and can't be bothered starting up your laptop

2) When you quickly need to check email/weather/stocks/

3) When you're lost and need Google maps to see where you are

=]

Pictures, notes, calculator, clock, contacts, calendar, just to name a few more things. The list gets much more lengthy when you have wifi access.

I would use it to check for wifi spots around town so I don't have to lug my MB into places just to find out there's no wifi.

That is if I don't let my boyfriend borrow it for a extended period of time (I already have a video iPod with more memory). In which case, I just get to lug him around with me to check for wifi spots. ;)

How about games, or driving directions, or watching movies on a great screen. Seriously, have you ever held one of these? I'm getting the same school deal, and I can't wait to get mine. There's a million uses for it, and more everyday. :D

Seeing the new App store just opened, I'd definitely look into that. Buying the 2.0 firmware seems so worth it, it's not even funny. I'd probably use it to surf the internet over Wi-Fi and check out MLB scores and eBay. It'd be more of a portable internet surfing thing to me, so I don't have to pull out my laptop all the time.

I already have a phone that does everything as the ipod touch, and its a phone ^^. so i would probably sell it on ebay or something. save some money.

Instantly sell it on craigslist for $250 or whatever I could get for it in a day or two. Presto - instant 20% discount on a macbook.

That's what I was thinking, but now after having gone to the store and seeing it in person, and seeing some of the applications.......

I want it.

SO IF the macbook comes out while the B2S offer is still up, I'll sell my 30gb Zune and put it towards a 32gb ipod touch.

Obviously your laptop is going to be able to do more than your touch lol, but the touch's size is what you are going to be utilizing here. If you have pockets big enough to slip a laptop into and run around town, good for you. Otherwise enjoy a free super-portable movie/music/internet machine that is only getting more useful with time as applications are created. One amazing one (in my opinion) is the radio application that is about 3 bucks i think. Hundreds of radio stations for free turning your ipod touch into a radio too ^^ Great for language students too cause you can tune into stations from other countries too!

PLUS i use it ALOT for my events and contact info. The super easy to use calendar and contacts app that comes with it is really useful for me, and it syncs automatically to my laptop when i plug it in so that my calendar on the laptop is updated too. It can, as such, be used as a super cool personal planner.

Love that song you just heard on the radio? Jot down a note using the notes app to remind yourself to download it next time youve got your macbook handy. Or better yet, connect directly to the itunes store and download it instantly!

Besides, just whiping it out in public as often as you can gets major cool-ness points (just dont tell them it was free :p )

I plan on using my free iPod Touch as a PDA replacement for my Dell Axim. With the new apps store, there are quite a few free apps that are nice on there, as well, I am in med school, so I plan on getting the Netter's Flash cards, as well as other flash cards coming out for it. It really is starting to shape up as a nice PDA replacement. If only it had bluetooth and could sync to my Blackjack so I could share the internet to it.

And Shackler, HTC Touch Pro all the way. I am waiting for that thing. It looks amazing. I just hope they tweak their TouchFLO 3D interface to be a little quicker and more sensitive than the Diamond.
