Whatever happened to the 'no sim' error? (iPhone4)

Back when the iPhone 4 launched there were loads of posts about people getting no sim errors with the iPhone 4. Since then its dissapeared and I havent heard any more about it?

What was the deal with that?

I think that these issues have been resolved with iOS updates.

There were some problems with the message in the earlier iOS 5 betas as well.

I'd also guess that some of the problems were to do with people getting micro SIMs for the first time. Some of them might have been faulty due to their relative newness.
