What'll the all new 2012 MBPs look like? Physically they've been the same for a fair while - So what will they look like upon the big 2012 redesign?

They could still look the same, as the design before the Unibody was in use for five and a half years, albeit with small modifications upon the switch to Intel.

And the spy shots of the new MBPs haven't been approved by arn yet.

Yeah, the only thing that they could do to the design is make it thinner, which isn't needed.

As for rumors - There haven't been any yet :(

It's going to have space thrusters, turbo charged processors, 93 day battery, and 3 screens.

Reality is the design will probably be exactly the same - magical

I would like a nicer screen, The screen on the ipad is even IPS and has nicer colors.

Liquidmetal

I am wondering what new case material we might see. Carbon fiber just got a bump down in probability for me when I found out is isn't recyclable. Not that I personally care, but Apple's squarely on the political-correctness bandwagon.

Maybe Liquidmetal?

Here's a mockup of a black Liquidmetal MBP.

Yummy! :p

Can't wait! :)

No thank you. I'll take the slim factor but I am not keen on giving up FW800 or ethernet port. I have no interest in adding even more adapters to what I have to make sure I have with me at all times. Furthermore having the TB ports further towards the center is also less than desirable to say the least, I'm not even much of a fan of the current placement.

That's true. It looks a bit nicer this way though...

You are correct but routing a monitor cable around USB dongles and whatnot (especially if I have a USB dongle for an ethernet connection) just sounds annoying.

You're absolutely right. Who knows. Maybe they'll even put some of the ports on the other side of the laptop, similar to the Macbook Air. After all, if they're going to leave out the Superdrive, which I assume they are, there should be some space available.

I don't see how they could make it much thinner though, without dropping at least the Ethernet port.

This is incorrect. I don't know if frankieboy is around to tell us where he found this information. I'd be interested to see the source.

As for a carbon fiber MBP, that would be something beautiful to behold.

My hope is:

Make it much slimmer by removing the optical drive.
Apple already offers a slim, external optical drive, if you need one, and they could make it Thunderbolt compatible.

Reduce the bezel on the 13" model (my model) a smidge.

Go with the new MBA sleek look of tapering down.

Include at least an SSD drive as the boot drive, and then a larger HDD for storage.

Lion, with TRIM support.

Keep the backlit keyboard, the ports, the nice trackpad. Maybe make the keyboard quieter if possible.

I'm not sure about colors. It's hard to imagine black.

i think the MBP's now are perfect. they could make them slimmer, but i think they should just leave them as is and make more room for the battery? i wouldn't mind 15hrs of battery life
