What's a good external HDD?

Was looking to buy an external HDD, for my aluminium macbook 13". I have never bought one before, so unsure about the best brands. Was hoping for some suggestions, looking for something pretty bog standard, fairly cheap, 1/2TB and most importantly reliable! any advice would be appreciated

I have a couple of WD My Book Studio II drives as well as their My Passport Studio units. These are a pretty safe bet to go with.
