Whats a good program to take inventory of items

Wat is the best program to take inventory of items so that it makes it easy to view . Maybe some kind of spreadsheet program??

I've used delicious library before, and it was pretty good, although it didn't get some of the obscure ones. It uses barcodes to inventory them.
