So my cousin just bought a new Lexmark X4650 cause ink cost more than the unit itself for his old printer. We're seeing if there's other options out there that's less than $100 that'll provide the most prints w/o paying up the ying yang for ink. Thought about laser printers, but we don't print enough to need it but at the same time we don't want to print a few things and realize that ink is low already.

Any suggestions? Let's throw price out of the question for now.

If you don't care about color printing, lasers are your best bet. We have had a Brother laser for almost 2 years, that cost less than $80, and it still has plenty of ink. The cartridges are around $30.

Laser Printers are definitely the way to go for lots of usage for low prices. Another option is a new Lexmark Line. Their Pinnacle and Platinum printers have the lowest black ink cost, at $5 for 500 pages. Super cheap, and super yieldful. I have an older printer in the same line (without fax) that accepts this ink, and it's really nice to be able to print so much for so little money. I'm actually planning on stocking up on these inks just in case they discontinue the line.
