I keep two shared iCloud calendars (for my Apple-using family) but recently switched to an Android (OnePlus 13). On Android 10 Pro, I used SmoothSync. I need a current way to manage those same calendars from the default Android Calendar app (view/edit/add).

I’ve tried methods suggested here—using iCloud‑specific passwords, Play Store sync apps—discussions.apple.com+7support.google.com+7reddit.com+7support.cozyla.com+4davx5.com+4davx5.com+4—but nothing worked reliably.

Any advice on smooth and functional two-way sync right now? Maybe tools like DAVx⁵, CompanionLink, or something new?

Appreciate any guidance!

Is the family too big or luddite to just change their Calendar account to a Google Calendar? I still use Apple Calendar as my app on Apple products, but never use their servers. I would always preference using something that is more platform agnostic than trying to create workarounds to force the square peg in the round hole.

Sure but he's the one causing the challenge in his family. You're asking his family to all change their existing working solutions to meet his personal desires. If they don't have existing Google accounts, this involves quite a bit of work just to accommodate him.

I don't disagree with your assessment that setting up platform agnostic solutions is best but he and is family are past that and asking them to switch will likely be some work.

OP..ask your family if they're willing to change to shared Google calendars so that going forward, it won't matter what anyone uses for a smart phone. Otherwise, I'd recommend using an app like One Calendar or Sync for iCloud. You will likely have to use them for those specific calendars vs. integrating in the native Android Google Calendar app.

How many of these family members already have Google accounts for stuff like YouTube? It's easy to add a Google account to an iPhone and turn off everything but the calendars.
Great point...some might already have Google accounts. Then using something that is more compatible and cross platform is always better.

Yeah, it's pretty easy if they are family members who live with you where you can just grab their phone and help them set it up. If we are talking about parents and grandparents who live out-of-state, then a third-party sync app might be the better choice. Another option for the OP is he could just keep those calendars separate and bookmark icloud.com in Chrome.

there is always challenges to having a group of people change their habits.
Most of my family and friends use iPhones. They all also have Google accounts from using a Google product of some sort. So over time i was able to convince them to go the Google calendar route. Even my 90 year old mother was able to change her default calendar to Google with me over the phone with her.

Yeah, years back I didn’t give my family a choice…just set up Google accounts for all of them and set up the shared calendars on all of our accounts. 😜 Now, it just keeps chugging along whenever they set up new Apple hardware thanks to easy iCloud device restores. At this point most don’t even realize what’s happening. 😆

How can something be more platform-agnostic than a bog-standard caldav and carddav (for the contacts) compliant solution? You probably can't get a more platform-agnostic non-proprietary calendering solution than that! ;)
